Sunday at Bloomy’s

Nevermind that we are huge fans of registries in general (Christmas, Birthdays – we have year round wishlists), but you really have to stop and appreciate the hospitality that comes with a glass of champagne.  Such was the case when the MJ girls headed over to Bloomingdales at Fashion Island, Newport Beach last weekend to attend one of their exclusive bridal registry brunches.  Yay!  Did you know we absolutely love breakfast?  Similar to what we assume speed dating is like, different vendors (Calphalon, KitchenAid, etc.) came up to each table and gave a short presentation about their gadget.  At the end, everyone could walk around and play with the items and, most importantly, take control of a registry gun and go to town!  Aubry, the store’s bridal coordinator, was sweet as can be and came up to everyone to make sure they had all of their questions were answered.  Rah, Rah Bloomy’s!

Wedding Planning for the Fashionable & Brilliant

Seven4One Showcase

The cutest boutique hotel, Seven4One, hosted a private bridal showcase and Mint Julep was there (yay!). We have to say this was the best “bridal show” that we have ever been to. It really wasn’t a bridal show in a traditional sense, more of a cocktail party with different bridal areas. They utilized the courtyard area for some vendors, and others set up shop in suites which was really fun and relaxing. First stop was the adorable photobooth by Four Quick Cliks on the way in. Fun! Next we tried the hotel’s Basil Peach Bruschetta – awesome. Then we stopped to chat with the invitation compnay, Artiface, who is doing our November 9th bride’s entire stationery suite (invites, menus, favors, etc.). We LOVED Movano Spa’s set up where they gave us a complimentary Goldenspoon Facial and massage. Next it was off to Spa Nordstrom’s suite for paraffin hand treatments and nail buffs – I wish we had time for the eyelash extensions! Great job S40!

The Big Apple

And… we’re back!  Mint Julep took another lovely trip to location scout for a fun-loving couple.  Currently living in Boston, the bride and groom came to the Big City to meet with us and search for the perfect venue.  We hit up all of the old favorites – The Plaza and The Waldorf Astoria, as well as some off the beaten path gems like the Brooklyn Botanic Garden’s Palm House and The Castle on the Hudson.  We also tried out high tea at Payard’s Patisserie for a possible bridal shower location.  Excellent scones!  Stay tuned for their location pick!

Michelle Buckley’s MJSE – LA Rag Mag / The Insider

One could argue that August is just a magical month. Only shortly after learning that Las Vegas Bride will be featuring photos by Michael + Anna Costa of Teresa Strasser’s wedding as a cover story, we found out that LA Rag Mag ran a very tasteful piece on their celebrity gossip news blog, right between Tobey Maquire and Heidi Klum. Then, before we could even catch our breath, The Insider had also picked up the story and our office was thoroughly exhausted with being thoroughly excited.

Riviera – Mid-Century Maven

Excitement has filled our Orange County office, as this month’s Riviera featured Mint Julep Social Events in their “The Radar Now!” We’re honored to be mentioned in what amounts to be not only the hippest, but possibly the most important publication in all of Orange County. The magazine raves about the creatively deft hands Michelle Lynn Buckley brings to her events, naming her the “Mid-Century Maven” of OC. Congratulations, Michelle!

Beautiful Napa

One of our newest, super cute couples has decided they want a wine country wedding, a nice destination weekend for their Southern California friends and family. And, if there is one thing we do well over at Mint Julep Social Events, it’s location scout! So, after an exciting run in with Kate Flannery, a short flight to Oakland, and a necessary upgrade at the car rental counter, we were cruising around Napa in a silver convertible, taking in the fresh air and keeping an eye out for the first venue on our short list. If you haven’t been, Napa and the surrounding area are simply wonderful. And, while, almost every venue looked more beautiful than the last, we finally selected an amazing chateau inspired property. Perhaps rivaled only by the most select vineyard in the French country side, the attentive staff, plush accommodations, and cavernous barrel rooms, easily put this venue at the top of our list. Brilliant! After a late lunch at Bouchon, our wonderful day in wine country was over; and we were soon back on a jet headed to our office in Los Angeles.
